Isabel Garvey, Managing Director of Abbey Road Studios, today joins Fast Company’s 10th annual list of the Most Creative People in Business, an influential and diverse group of 100 leaders from a vast range of global industries including tech, design, entertainment, health care, media, government, nonprofit, finance, food and more. This year’s list of executives includes women and men from such companies as Apple, NASA, Google, Nike, Microsoft, Starbucks and Twitch.
The Most Creative People in Business list recognises scientists, executives, programmers, comedians, founders, designers, musicians, writers and activists who have accomplished something new within their field that’s driving their industries forward and solving global and societal problems in novel ways.
Garvey has presided over the biggest transformation in Abbey Road’s 88-year history and has guided the business through a period of rapid growth and diversification while remaining respectful of the brand’s unique heritage. This has included:
• The launch of two new studios, designed to make the magic of Abbey Road more accessible to emerging artists
• The creation of Abbey Road Red – Europe’s first ever music technology incubator
• The building of a Mix Stage, enabling cutting-edge film sound production
• The creation of new digital studio tools, opening up the expertise of Abbey Road engineers to music makers across the world
• The opening of the Abbey Road Institute - developing the next generation of studio talent
Garvey is also championing opportunities for women in music technology, giving talks to inspire young women to be open to tech and engineering roles.
Isabel Garvey says:
“It is such a huge honour to be included in Fast Company’s list of most creative people in business. I am privileged to be surrounded by incredible musical talent every day and in an environment where creativity positively seeps out of the walls of the Studios. The last four years have been about channeling that creativity to innovate and grow the brand and business. It is a tightrope of respecting and celebrating the wonderful heritage whilst having an eye toward the future and ensuring the Studios remain relevant to the modern recording artist, continue to attract the best talent in the business and have an innovative approach to digital technology. It’s been a hell of a ride and I have enjoyed every minute of it!”To see the complete list go to:
