What was one of your favourite projects at Abbey Road this year?

Lewis

"Recording and mixing the score for the new Batman: Arkham Shadow VR game, released for and with the new Meta Quest 3. Working with Kazuma Jinnouchi, Nobuko Toda and the whole team was a real pleasure as always. I tried on a Meta Quest the other day and it's pretty cool!"

Sean

"One of my favourite projects in 2024 was Zoon by The Nefilim. Vinyl and digital remaster. I was always a fan of Fields Of The Nephilim and have remastered most of their catalogue recently."

Alex

"Everything on Trule Records... consistently excellent and always nice to get deep into late at night :)"

Marta

"It has to be Wicked! I am a huge fan of the musical and it felt like a dream having the possibility to work on the project."

Stefan

"Working with new band The PLEIADES, amazing people with great music."

Miles

"2024 has been another excellent year of varied projects for me at Abbey Road. Album highlights include new material from Dua Lipa, The Cure, The Gleeman, David Gilmour and Opeth as well as remastering classic records by ABBA, Paul McCartney & Wings, OMD, Dire Straits, Genesis and INXS."

Tom

"Probably the CZN sessions at the beginning of the year. I recorded hours of improvised percussion, played by the amazing Joao Pais Filipe and Valentina Magaletti, which was then cut up and handed over to Leon Marks who produced the final tracks. Was surreal to hear the final outcome!"

Freddie

"My personal favourite was probably the Jim Hart and the Cloudmakers Trio in Studio Three, recorded a full album in three days, all playing live in the same room, incredible energy throughout. Other notable sessions were Fito Páez in Studio Two, recording strings for David Gilmour's latest record at Angel Studios, and a couple days writing with Jaylen Ngonda and Jordan Rakei."

Kobi

"Conclave. Seeing this film being brought to life creatively in post production by the sound team, director and composer was amazing as they were not afraid to stray from normality. Lovely crew as well."

What was your favourite album in 2024?

Lewis

"Difficult to say a favourite album, but I have been listening to Michael Kiwanuka's new album Small Changes on repeat since it came out!"

Sean

"Album I’ve been listening to this year is Hopiumfrothemasses by Ministry."

Alex

"MoinYou Never End."

Marta

"BRAT by Charli XCX. I do realise I am a bit late to the party, but it’s been on my list for months and I finally had the time to listen to it properly and I’m glad I did, I am obsessed now."

Stefan

"Toss up between The Cure - Songs Of A Lost World, Xiu Xiu - 13" Frank Beltrame Italian Stiletto with Bison Horn Grips & Cold Cave - Passion Depression."

Miles

"Without a doubt, it has to be Songs Of A Lost World by The Cure. The vinyl version that I worked on is mastered separately and differently to the digital release. The string of five star reviews this record has received are not misplaced, it is a remarkable return to form after too long an absence which is both highly personal and emotional in places. It is an album that starts well and improves with every listen, I have heard it a lot and I am not tiring of it. We honestly had no right to expect this record to be so good, but we are supremely fortunate that it is. I honestly think it will be remembered as one of the all-time greats."

Tom

"Rong Weikness by Fievel Is Glaque."

Freddie

"Romance by Fontaines DC probably. Other than that, there was a lot of LCD Soundsystem ahead of All Points East this year."

Kobi

"Kendrick Lamar’s GNX"

Which new artist, band or release are you most excited about for 2025?

Lewis

"I'd love to hear a new album by Yebba. A friend introduced me to her album Dawn a couple of years ago. Love it!"

Alex

"Another Moin album? Also looking forward to the release of the debut Bodur album after working with her for so long."

Marta

"The Summer Portraits by Ludovico Einaudi. He came over a few months ago to record some strings and piano in Studio Two. A couple of singles are already out and they sound amazing!"

Stefan

"The Wants and Marta Vega!"

Miles

"Hopefully the rumours are true and Kate Bush will be releasing a new album in 2025. As a long-time fan, I will be delighted to hear anything she has to offer the world."

Tom

"Clayfoot and Sharkpit, two very different bands but both are making some amazing music and are insane live."

Freddie

"Joy Crookes announced some new music the other day for next year, I worked with her about 18 months ago so hoping it's some of that!"

Kobi

"Most exciting upcoming album for 2025 will be coming from Keznamdi!"
