Ahead of the Music Business Worldwide A&R Awards on 7 November, we’re taking a closer look at the fantastic nominees for Producer of the Year.

In what is our seventh year of association with the awards celebrating the UK's best A&RS, labels, publishers, managers, songwriters and producers, we're proud to again support the Producer of the Year category and the amazing group of nominees including Billen Ted, Catherine Marks, Fred Again.., JAE5, Lostboy, Mark Ralph, Mark Ronson, P2J, PRGRSHN, Steve Mac, Kid Harpoon and TMS.
 
Next up is one of the most successful writer/producers in modern pop, Steve Mac.

What was the most fun you had in the studio this year?

Mac has had 31 No. 1 singles in the UK alone and been associated with over 240 hit singles and albums internationally.

From his Rokstone Studios base in London's Parsons Green, Mac has provided hits for artists as diverse as Mabel, Chainsmokers, Ed Sheeran, Pink, Bastille, Liam Payne, Rita Ora, Tom Walker, Chvrches, Anne-Marie, Jess Glynne, Clean Bandit, Little Mix, Years & Years, Westlife, and Kelly Clarkson amongst others.

Mac spent 31 consecutive weeks as the No.1 Songwriter on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Songwriter Charts. In June 2021 Steve scored the triple on these Dance charts with Happier at No.1, Here With Me at No.2 and Call Your Name at No.3. Happier by Marshmello feat. Bastille currently holds the record for most weeks spent at number one on the Hot Dance/Electronic Chart, with 76 weeks as of February 2020. In 2021, Ed Sheeran's Shivers became Steve Mac's 31st UK No.1 single, his 96th UK Top 20 hit and brings a new career high of 73 weeks at No.1 in the UK.

In 2018 Steve Mac was the recipient of the Songwriter of the Year Award from Music Week, Producer of the Year Award from Music Business Worldwide, a Brit Songwriter of the Year Award, an Ivor Novello Song Of The Year Award for Shape Of You, Songwriter of the Year Award from ASCAP along with six other ASCAP awards including Song Of The Year and Top Digital Song for Ed Sheeran’s Shape Of You. Mac won three awards in the Hot 100 Winning Songs category for Strip That Down, Liam Payne's debut solo single featuring Quavo, What About Us by P!nk and the continued success of Rockabye by Clean Bandit featuring Sean Paul and Anne-Marie which spent nine weeks at the top of the UK singles chart. Rockabye also won in the EDM Winning Songs category, alongside another single co-written by Mac, Symphony by Clean Bandit featuring Zara Larsson. In 2020, Mac won Songwriter of the Year 2019 at the Ivor Novello Awards.
