Over 11 & 12 November, the Studios will open its doors to the next generation of artists, engineers and creatives for a free, two-day festival featuring masterclasses, interactive sessions, practical workshops, Q&As and live performances!

Alongside the Abbey Road team, some of the music industry’s leading names will share career insights from their personal journeys, as well as advice for upcoming talent and a range of live performances and showcases. Participants will be able to attend for free by entering a ballot and the festival will also be livestreamed.

We’re thrilled to be welcoming Steve Mac, one of the most successful writer/producers in modern pop. Steve has had 31 No 1 singles in the UK alone and been associated with over 240 hit singles and albums internationally.

From his Rokstone Studios base, Mac has provided hits for artists as diverse as Mabel, Ed Sheeran, Pink, Bastille, Biffy Clyro, Liam Payne, Rita Ora, Tom Walker, Chvrches, Anne-Marie, Jess Glynne, Clean Bandit, Little Mix, Years & Years, Westlife and Kelly Clarkson amongst others.

Steve will be sitting down in Studio Two on Friday 12 November with Abbey Road’s Mirek Stiles to discuss his career so far, tips for young producers and writers starting out, and then opening up for a Q&A discussion.
 
Mac spent 31 consecutive weeks as the No1 Songwriter on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Songwriter Charts. Back in June 2019, Steve scored the triple on these Dance charts with Happier at No.1, Here With Me at No.2 and Call Your Name at No.3. Happier' by Marshmello feat. Bastille currently holds the record for most weeks spent at number one on the Hot Dance/Electronic Chart, with 76 weeks as of February 2020.

In 2021 Mac has had Shivers by Ed Sheeran at No.1 in the UK for 4 weeks and Permission To Dance by BTS at No.1 on the US Hot 100 chart.

In 2018 Steve Mac was the recipient of the Songwriter of the Year Award from Music Week, Producer of the Year Award from Music Business Worldwide, a Brit Songwriter of the Year Award, an Ivor Novello Song Of The Year Award for Shape Of You, Songwriter of the Year Award from ASCAP along with six other ASCAP awards including Song Of The Year and Top Digital Song for Ed Sheeran’s Shape Of You. Mac won three awards in the Hot 100 Winning Songs category for Strip That Down, Liam Payne's debut solo single featuring Quavo, What About Us by Pink and the continued success of Rockabye by Clean Bandit featuring Sean Paul and Anne-Marie which spent nine weeks at the top of the UK singles chart. Rockabye also won in the EDM Winning Songs category, alongside another single co-written by Mac, Symphony by Clean Bandit featuring Zara Larsson. In 2020, Mac won Songwriter of the Year 2019 at the Ivor Novello Awards.
