For our 90th anniversary we're looking back at some key pieces of equipment that helped establish and define Abbey Road Studios.

In 1972 a Fender Rhodes was used by Richard Wright on Pink Floyd’s Breathe from The Dark Side of The Moon. Since then it has become one of the most iconic electric pianos in the world, played on countless rock, pop, and jazz sessions here at the Studios.

Legend has it, The Beatles ordered Wurlitzers for the Get Back sessions in 1969, but instead came Fender Rhodes electric pianos. The incomparable Billy Preston was enlisted for the sessions, playing Rhodes on I’ve Got A Feeling, Get Back and Don’t Let Me Down. Hear it in action in Peter Jackson’s new film The Beatles' GetBack, Part One out today on Disney Plus.
