We are proud to reveal details of our new 'Lock-In' release from
Sans Soucis, Charles & Austrian producer, CID RIM
We are proud to present the seventh episode in our on-going Lock-In series with Sans Soucis and Charles' new single, Mexico City. Recorded in Abbey Road’s Gatehouse studio, Mexico City was crafted during a single day as part of an explosive session with Austrian producer CID RIM, assisted by Abbey Road runner Sarah Meyz.
Inspired by the allure of escaping a cold UK winter for the warmth of Mexico City, the trio pay homage to late ‘70s/early ‘80s pop with a contemporary twist. Reflecting on the experience, Sans Soucis shares: “Mexico City was born in Abbey Road Studios when I invited Charles and CID RIM to The Gatehouse. I was so inspired by both CID RIM’s and Charles’ pervasive personality and musical taste. I thought we could truly create something quite special, even given the hard task."
Abbey Road’s Lock-In series is designed to reveal the musical creative experience, offering a window into an otherwise closed process. Artists are invited into the studios for an unexpected collaboration, or to record a new interpretation of an existing song, using only the mix of vintage instruments and future tech provided by Abbey Road. The Clockworks, Jane Weaver, Django Django x Denai Moore, Hak Baker and Fontaines D.C. have all released Lock-In singles over the last two years with more to come in 2024.
Speaking about this new release, Abbey Road’s Content Marketing Manager, Jamie Hayes says: “In witnessing the day unfold, the dynamic between Sans Soucis, Charles and CID RIM was nothing short of seamless—remarkably effortless and inspiring. The way the three of them clicked, bounced off each other, laughed, played and finished such an excellent track in only a few hours is testament to what collaboration should be—a harmonious blend of talent, camaraderie and artistic brilliance.”
