11th September 2024

Photos From The 2024 Abbey Road Music Photography Awards Shortlist Will Be Exhibited At Outernet This Month

Abbey Road Studios has today announced the return of its partnership with Outernet London - to exhibit photos from the 2024 Music Photography Awards shortlist, within London’s premier immersive entertainment district. The exhibition will be free to attend and launches on Saturday 14 September, with all 30 images across the six open categories on display for just over a week in the Now Pop One space, adjacent to Charing Cross Road.

It will once again allow visitors to vote for their favourite photo in the Music Moment of the Year category via interactive screens. This gives music and photography fans the chance to participate in the awards, while expanding on Abbey Road’s aim to gain further widespread recognition of the art of music photography and those behind the lens. Voting is also possible on the MPA website from Saturday 14 September.

Speaking about partnering with Outernet for the 2024 MPAs, Abbey Road’s Managing Director, Sally Davies says: “At Abbey Road, we’re committed to nurturing talent at all levels. With over 1.5 million visitors weekly, the stunning screens at Outernet London offer an exceptional platform to highlight the work of both emerging and established artists in music photography. This is the perfect venue to generate excitement as we launch the public vote for our Music Moment of the Year category.”

Alexandra Payne, Director, Creative & Content Studio at Outernet London, added: "As the UK's number one cultural destination, we’re thrilled to partner once again with the iconic Abbey Road Studios for the Music Photography Awards. Our ethos is to deliver experiences worth sharing and the calibre of talent and photography that is featured in this competition is second to none. We are proud to provide a platform to showcase these incredible artists’ work and encourage our audience to vote for their Music Moment of the Year."

This year’s MPAs received a record-breaking 22,000+ images across six open categories, marking a 40% increase from 2023, with submissions from photographers spanning over 28 different countries. The 2024 winners will receive their MPA trophy at the awards ceremony on 3rd October, designed by acclaimed Scottish designer and LOVERBOY Creative Director, Charles Jeffery. Inspired by the history and textures of Abbey Road, Jeffery has created bespoke artwork for the trophies within the Gatehouse studio, working to the live piano accompaniment of rising singer-songwriter JNR Williams (following recent collaborations with Jungle and Loyle Carner).

Having recently celebrated its 10th Anniversary, LOVERBOY was founded from humble beginnings in Charles’s East London bedroom and is carried in over 90 stores across the world. Drawn to the inherent magic in queerness, Charles and his collaborators create fashion dreamscapes, adding new layers to the brand’s story with each passing season. Together they weave the folkloric thread of Scottish history into the rich tapestry of London’s queer nightlife and music scenes.
