From Oldham to Nashville, the catwalk to the recording studio, Karen Elson has lived a life less ordinary.
Seven years after her Jack White produced debut album The Ghost Who Walks, Elson has returned with Double Roses, a beautiful collection of new songs, which Clash magazine describes as ‘a masterfully crafted musing on one’s life so far’. The Guardian described her as ‘a beguiling performer’ combining ‘ethereal pop majesty with a mesmerising talent’.
Take a listen to recent singles Call Your Name and Wonder Blind live in NYC to get a sense of the sound she creates.
Just prior to her recent tour with Ryan Adams, Karen dropped into Studio Three at Abbey Road for an interview and photo shoot with Red magazine. The November issue of Red is out this week and sees Elson talk about rock’n’roll, marriage and moving on.
We were lucky enough to spend some time with her to talk about the songwriting and recording process behind the new album Double Roses. Watch our interview with Karen here.
