Matt’s interest in music can be traced back to taking up trombone lessons at the age of seven. Starting to teach himself guitar a few years later, much of his teenage life was spent playing in a variety of brass ensembles and metal bands around the South Coast.
He went on to study the Tonmeister course at the University of Surrey, during which he spent a year in London working as a runner at Angel Studios. This served as an excellent real-life introduction to the worlds of professional studios and large scale orchestral recording.
Matt started at Abbey Road immediately after graduating in 2012 and has since worked with many of the industry's great engineers and composers on a huge range of orchestral film and video game soundtracks. Recent years have seen him act as assistant engineer on Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Avengers: Infinity War, 007: Spectre, Fantastic Beasts, as well working on sessions with Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Ben Howard and Sylvan Esso.
