Al first found his love for music when he started playing piano at the age of eight. Soon after he developed his musical skills by learning clarinet and saxophone.
While playing in ensembles at the High Wycombe Music Centre, Al had the opportunity to compete at national competitions and perform in concert venues around London. He developed a love for film compositions through playing arrangements of John Williams, Danny Elfman and Michael Giacchino and he remembers fondly playing Olympic Fanfare and Theme by John Williams to open a Royal Albert Hall concert.
At school, he became involved in musical theatre productions, playing within a pit band. He quickly took an interest in live sound and theatre technical audio which would later inform his university education.
Al studied the Tonmeister course at the University of Surrey and was involved in recording a plethora of bands and ensembles. His portfolio ranged from location recordings, classical piano, soul/funk, jazz and pop.
As part of his university education, Al spent his placement year as an Assistant Technical Producer with BBC Radio. Here, he got to work in Maida Vale Studios with artists including Thundercat, Fontaines DC, Pink & Alt-J. He also got the opportunity to work on-stage at Glastonbury and Reading Festivals with artists including Idles, Loyle Carner, Four Tet and Griff. After graduating in 2022, Al freelanced for the BBC, engineering live broadcasts for BBC Radio 2 and assisting on Radio 1's Live Lounge.
Having joined Abbey Road in 2023, Al is incredibly excited to work alongside such a talented team and is looking forward to working on the industry leading projects that come through the studios.
