The Classical BRIT Awards 2009 took place last night at the Royal Albert Hall and we're thrilled to have worked with some of the winners.

Howard Goodall won Composer of the Year for his album Eternal Light: A Requiem for EMI Classics. The album was recorded in St Michael's Church, Oxford, using the Abbey Road Mobile, produced by Simon Kiln and engineered by Jonathan Allen. In addition, his recent Enchanted Voices album for Classic FM was engineered by Andrew Dudman and mastered by Simon Gibson. Enchanted Voices has been at the top of the specialist classical charts for 8 weeks and is the highest-selling (non-compilation) choral CD of 2009 so far.

Alison Balsom won the Female Artist of the Year for her EMI Classics recording of Haydn/Hummel: Trumpet Concertos with the Bremen Chamber Orchestra. The album was recorded in Bremen by Arne Akselberg and Richard Hale with Abbey Road's Mobile Recording Unit.

Libera were nominated for Best Young Performer/Group. Their 2008 album Eternal: The Best of Libera was mastered at Abbey Road by Simon Gibson, but unfortunately they narrowly missed out on the night, with the award going to Alina Ibragimova.
