Allan Ramsay's Biography

Allan was educated at the Royal Academy of Music and Guildhall School of Music and Drama and holds an Honours Degree in Music and a variety of teaching diplomas. He joined Abbey Road in 1993 and fulfilled a number of post-production roles prior to taking up his current position specialising as a classical mastering engineer in 1996. Working on recordings from 1949 to the present day, Allan has been responsible for mastering much of the EMI Classics back catalogue, fine tuning and further developing the highly skilled disciplines that are required for working with historic and often rare recordings. One of his most notable projects was his collaboration in restoring and mastering numerous titles from the award-winning series â'‚¬ËœGreat Recordings of The Century', as well as numerous other projects for a wide range of classical artists and musicians.rnIn addition, Allan has mastered many of the number one selling classical crossover albums of recent years, including â'‚¬Å“The Classical Chilloutâ'‚¬Â Album and the platinum-selling series â'‚¬Å“The Most Relaxing Classical Albumâ'‚¬Â. Allan's expertise and knowledge keep him in regular demand for these types of high profile projects. Allan is also responsible for researching, managing and further developing the extensive and ongoing training and â'‚¬Ëœbeta testing' programmes practised at Abbey Road Studios.
