Ian has been a member of the Abbey Road team of mastering engineers for several years, and works comfortably with classical music and pop. Ian works in a room specially set up for this task, centered around the classic EMI TG mastering console used in all the mastering and cutting rooms at Abbey Road.
Trained at the Royal Academy of Music, Ian studied classical guitar and cello. He started work with EMI in 1983, joining the Abbey Road staff in 1988 as a transfer engineer. He has worked in post production gaining valuable experience with analogue tape machines, before moving to CD pre-mastering with u-matic tape and the Sony DAE 1100 editing system. He now uses Sadie and specializes in remastering and mastering.
