A self-confessed vinyl junkie, Alex grew up collecting soul, hip hop, reggae and indie records before developing an interest in recording. He joined us 20 years ago working in the studios, having experienced the Abbey Road sound via his parents' 1960s record collection. Once in, he quickly worked his way up to the role of mastering engineer.
Alex has mastered albums and singles for The Beatles, My Bloody Valentine, The Pixies, Marvin Gaye, Mogwai, Maverick Sabre, Mumford and Sons, Gilberto Gil, Slaves, Bring Me The Horizon, Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan, St. Germain and The Chemical Brothers. He's also in high demand as a remastering engineer and has worked on genres ranging from ethnic, jazz, folk and classical through to indie guitar, pop and film soundtracks.
With plenty of opportunity to pursue his love of vinyl, Alex has cut some of the biggest pop and rock albums of recent years to 12". These include Keane's No.1 album Strangelands, Radiohead's best-selling vinyl album The King of Limbs, plus albums from Joanna Newsom, Animal Collective, Massive Attack and Coldplay.
Recently Alex has been working on the Rolling Stones' and Paul McCartney's back catalogues as well as solo artists such as D. D Dumbo, Douglas Dare, Tom Hickox, Sigrid, Aurora and Yussef Dayes.
